Mountain Inferno!
It was on the evening when we descended from the peak of Kumara Parvatha, and we were in the hotel room in Subramanya to have some rest and get fresh before we head back to Bangalore, we saw one of the mountains was on fire! May be a the forest guards had put fire for the dry grass and it may be the controlled one (not sure however!), but the scene was amazing!
Hell to the very bright light that was coming from the city beneath and even after many attempts and many angles, this was the best that I could get that evening, standing on the balcony of the hotel! I see some JPG artifacts after compression for which I apologise!

A 6 sec exposure with 18-135mm lens on D300 supported on Gitzo and Arca Swiss (Thanks to Pramod).

Amazing perspective this Ashwin. I still remember that night and what a sight it was! Yes you are right we were cursing big time about 'light pollution'! Very well portrayed image this!

Nice perspective Bhatre!! What's the light on the front? I too saw it last weekend when I was coming from Ombattu Gudda. I couldn't shoot it as I was in Bus. The whole mountain was burning!! Are you sure, if that was intended fire & not accidental?

Thanks Pramod and Gautham!
Gautham - The light in the front was the light from the city lamps below! I think the fire was intended as the shape of the fire was circular (almost a perfect circle!). I dont think the accidental fire spreads in that much perfect manner! :-) I am not 100% sure though! I may be optimistic in thinking it to be an intended one! :-)

Looks like a volcano! The smoke adds a lot of dynamism to the image.
