In the dream...
Now this is no photoshop work!! Just out of the camera, converted to JPG, added the canvas and presented before you all!

How did I get this?
Hmm! Well...that's a secret!! Promise me that you wont tell it to anyone!

Just kidding!

This is the result which you get if you stack a B+W thin polarizer on top of Singh-Ray Vari ND!
The interesting fact is that you can control the region of yellow, blue, violet, green etc etc! The viewfinder doesn't help you much as almost nothing will be seen through it, but if you expose the image longer (8 sec here) you get some amazing out of the world colors (pun intended)! Then as you rotate the polarizer, the color starts shifting to different regions.

I wrote this to both SinghRay and Schneider Optic people. None of them gave any guarantee on the result as to what would happen if one stacks a circular polariser on top of the VariND. However if I stack Hoya polariser on top of VariND, the result is perfect and beautiful, but not with B+W thin one.

So if you want to have a try on the combi and see the result by yourself, then contact me, I can help you to convince yourself! 8-)

whoa.. this is interesting. So much of physics and optics here!
can you please explain how can you control the region of yellow, blue, violet, green etc?? Can you actually know which color cast a particular area will be and to what extent?

Ashwin, while this takes the colors to extremes I think there may be some good possibilities to use this technique to create some interesting B&W images.

Sandeep, by rotating the polariser you can control the region of colors in the frame. Through the view finder you can only see a hint of yellow and green. Rest come only after exposing the frame. But after taking some shots you ca easily guess what would come where! :)

Ganesh, that a nice idea! I would try that...
